After a wonderful memorable and one of best Diwali of my life, I am here with an appeal:)
Om Ashram an “Old Age Home” in Bangalore which was started 9 years ago and supports 35 forlorn, abandoned and lonely souls. I have been associated with Om Ashram as volunteer past 3 years and as one of Board member past 1 year now, although I can’t give much of time but try my best to be part of it as and when I can... All Care takers here take very good care and give 24/7 support too all the elderly members (most of them being bed ridden). It’s sometime very saad to see their condition and their expectation from any youngster being “Kindly give few minutes of yours every week to talk to us” Imagine not hours but minutes, one granny infact told me that some months back “Can you come every week and talk to me for 3 minutes” Yes, they just need some love and affection from each one of us… So request you to try your best to atleast spend sometime every month at Old Age Home close to your place and give them some minutes of happiness, be it by walking a mile with them in a park near by or by reading book or news paper for them or just talking to them and listening to them or be it even arranging their things in their bag (which I did last week when a granny requested me to help her arrange her stuff without any hesitation)…
Coming to financial aspect, it’s not easy to sustain and maintain an NGO, especially Old Age Homes, where the financial support is always needed for Consumables, Salaries, Medical expenses most of them being bed ridden, Wheel Chairs, Walkers, Rent, Electricity, Water etc etc etc. Here is an earnest appeal to all to come to the aid of Omashram Old Age Home and become a member and help us help the helpless elderly. Attaching the Om Ashram membership form for those who are interested to become member. I am sure many of you will come forward and become a member to help our cause… Request you to spread a word to your near and dear ones. Also you may come forward and give your suggestions for the organisational development of Om Ashram.
And ya strongly recommend that – You must read and share this wonderful blog on "The Elderly" by Mr. Mohan Pai, Founder member and Trustee of Om Ashram... This will brief you on the plight of elderly… Plz do share it with your parents as well!!!
